My Morning Acai Bowl

acai 1 acai 2 acai 4 Sorry for all the photos, but decorating these bowls is one of my favourite things about them. My 3 favourite things about açaí bowls?

  1. They’re super easy (and fun) to make
  2. They look (and taste) ridiculously good.
  3. They’re ridiculously good for you!

So how about it? Ready to make an açaí bowl?

Ingredients:

Smoothie:

1 frozen banana (be sure to peel and chop the banana prior to freezing it!)
3/4 apple
1/2 cup liquid*

*You can use anything you like! I like to use coconut water or light milk, but you can use something like almond milk, soy milk, coconut milk – whatever you prefer to drink.

Toppings:

You can top your açaí bowl with pretty much anything, but these are the toppings I use. I’ll also put down some measurements, but this is just a rough guide and you can use as much or as little as you like. Have fun with it!

1/4 apple
2 tsp black chia seeds
2 tsp cacao nibs
1 tsp Goji berries
2 tsp granola
1 tsp sunflower seeds

Method:

  1. Put the banana, apple and a small amount of the liquid into a blender. I prefer to add a little bit of liquid at a time, because I like my smoothie to be quite thick, so I just keep adding a little bit and pulsing the blender until it’s liquid enough to blend together smoothly.
  2. Pour your açaí smoothie mixture into a bowl, sprinkle the toppings on top and enjoy. Too easy!
