My Favourite Looks from the Met Gala

First up, let me apologise for this post taking a few days longer than I expected to be ready – it’s been a busy week! But, as promised, here is my take on the Top 10 Met Gala looks. Enjoy! xx

Hailed Steinfeld in H&M Met GalaWith 2016 being Hailee Steinfeld’s 6th Met Gala in a row, the red carpet veteran did not disappoint wearing a stunning emerald gown by H&M. This might be my favourite look of the night – the emerald is a gorgeous colour on Hailee, but the attention to detail is what most completes this look. The gold jewellery is kept minimal, with a well placed chunky gold necklace breaking up the space above her strapless dress, preventing the feeling of “too much skin”. With a loose braid, smokey eye and gorgeous deep plum lip which ties in perfectly with the warmth of the emerald, this is another successful Met Gala for Steinfeld!

Emily Ratajkowski in Prabal Gurung Met GalaEmily Ratajkowski was looking elegant in her black and white gown by Prabal Gurung. Again, I love how the “less is more” approach was taken here to keep the look polished and beautiful. A sleek look like is super easy to recreate for your own night out – Just pair a monochrome dress with simple silver or crystal accessories and a pair of strappy heels, allowing the dress to attract all the attention.

Zoey Deutch in Dolce and Gabbana Met Gala

Zoey Deutch said on her Instagram that she loved this dress so much, and I have to agree with her! The floral pattern on this tulle gown by Dolce and Gabbana is absolutely gorgeous! I love the feminine feel of this look, and with the soft makeup and flower crown, Zoey looks just like a real life princess.

Blake Lively in Burberry Met Gala

Blake Lively looked simply beautiful in her custom Burberry gown, earning her a place in my top 10. I love the soft pink blush colour, and in particular the cape. It looks like flower petals were sprinkled all around her and it’s just so pretty!

Zendaya in Michael Kors Met Gala

I’m not sure why, but this photo of Zendaya is giving me Cleopatra vibes – and I love it! This Michael Kors gown is stunning! The texture of this dress is incredible, and what I love the most is that nobody attempted to compete with the dress for attention. Aside from a few rings on her fingers, there are no necklaces, bracelets or even statement making shoes visible – leaving the dress to capture all the attention. Even the dress itself is relatively simple – a fitted style, with a small train. There are no frills or layers because the continuous colour and texture of this dress was all that was needed to make it a winning number. Anything extra would have made it too over the top. It should be noted too that, as always, Zendaya’s hair and make up is FLAWLESS. This girl can do no wrong.

Gigi Hadid in Tommy Hilfiger Met Gala

Ah, Gigi and Zayn. Or as they’re also known as – Zigi. For this post, I’ll focus my attention on Gigi Hadid’s dress by Tommy Hilfiger. I don’t think I’ve ever disliked an outfit donned by the oldest Hadid sibling, and this one’s right up there with the best of the best. I love the metallic bodysuit, which is perfect for the nights “Manis x Machina” theme, as well as how it was softened by a flowing, feminine skirt. As usual, Gigi’s makeup was kept quite fresh-faced and neutral, with a deep glittery side part paving the way for a sleek pony.

Margot Robbie in Calvin Klein Met Gala

Aussie darling, Margot Robbie stepped out on the red carpet in this gorgeous Calvin Klein gown. I love the simple sophistication of this look. No bells and whistles – in true Calvin Klein fashion, this look is modern and minimal. Wow factor is imposed by thigh high slits and cut outs which in turn are balanced by soft, loose waves and neutral makeup, preventing the look from being tacky.

Zoe Saldana in Dolce and Gabbana Met Gala

Zoe Saldana looked AMAZING in this incredible gown by Dolce and Gabbana. What else needs to be said for this dress? All you need to do is look at it to appreciate the work that would’ve gone into creating this feathery wonder.

Kendall Jenner in Versace Met Gala

Kendall Jenner has been setting style goals left, right and centre, and her appearance at this years Met Gala was no exception. This dress is like a mosaic artwork made from blue jewels and it’s gorgeous. Kendall isn’t usually one to pair a statement dress with equally sophisticated makeup, and she’s kept her glam look here quite neutral. With a nude lip, soft eyes and glowing skin by Estée Lauder, Kendall is fresh faced and polished in her shimmery dress.

Alessandra Ambrosio in Balmain Met Gala

Wrapping up this list is Alessandra Ambrosio, who looked stunning in Balmain. I’m in love with the metallic elements of this dress. The silvery white details on this dress look amazing, especially on Ambrosio’s statuesque figure. A handy tip if you ever want to pull off an outfit with a fabric or pattern as full on as this one – break the look up with a wide neutral belt, like the metallic one used here. It creates an upper and lower section, with the plain space preventing the design from being “in your face”. The belt also cinches in the waist, giving more shape to your figure. Double win.
